Drive Time: A Whole Lot Extra
In San Francisco we parked at Union Square and then walked through China town to the original Ghirardelli shop to Fisherman’s Wharf to the Ferry Building, where we bought a loaf of freshly baked bread for lunch. On the way back to the car, an Amazon Go store caught Michael’s attention and we had to try it out. After downloading the app and entering my Amazon account, we just scanned into the store, picked up groceries off the shelf and proceeded to walk out. Amazing new technology, although impressed, Michael is sad that such technology is taking away jobs.
On our way out of the city we stopped to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge. It was beautiful, although it was covered by low lying clouds.
We then paid to park at Muir Woods to walk around and see some more big trees, which retrospectively was not worth our $8.
Free camping in California is almost impossible to come by. Thinking we found some a while north, we began driving. Agreeing to go 50 minutes out of our way to set up the tent for free, we ran into no trespassing signs that made us turn around without a place to stay. Very tired from the day and stressed that it was 9:30 pm and we didn’t have a plan for where we were sleeping. We continued to drive. North we found a pullout to stop on, sleeping yet again in the Prius. We are pros now.
